Saturday 10.07.06 was the SC State TT Champs Yemassee, SC (near Charleston) and though I have not been training for the distance (it’s a 40k TT) I decided to go because I was riding well, and heck I just wanted to compete.
I’m glad I did, I got 1st in the Masters 40-44 category. Unfortunately since I’m not a SC resident I didn’t get a gold medal. Anyway, it went much better than last year’s which was a combined NC/SC State Champs, where I took the starting line with me for 3 miles when the tape stuck to my front wheel and continued to flail around for 3 miles while I lacerated my hand trying to brush it off the wheel. Not a good ride.
